Blockstream Jade – Hardware Wallet for Bitcoin & Liquid Assets

The Blockstream Jade is a user-friendly, fully open-source hardware wallet that provides top-level security for your Bitcoin and Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) holdings. Developed by Blockstream – one of the leading companies in the Bitcoin ecosystem, headed by renowned cryptographer Adam Back – the Jade is a relatively new yet already well-established solution among hardware wallets.

Supported Assets

The Jade stores Bitcoin as well as all Liquid Assets, meaning tokens issued on the Liquid Network. These include Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) and so-called Issued Assets. Notably, the Jade is currently the only hardware wallet with native support for Liquid Assets.

The Liquid Network is a sidechain connected to the Bitcoin blockchain, but with its own consensus model. Compared to the mainchain, it offers greater privacy, lower transaction costs and additional features such as custom token issuance. Currently available Liquid tokens include Bitcoin Mining Note (BMN), Infinite Fleet (EXO) and SideSwap (SSWP), as well as various stablecoin implementations. These tokens can be managed using the Green Wallet in combination with the Jade.

Compatibility

The recommended setup is to use the Jade with the Blockstream Green Wallet, which is available on: Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux. In addition, the Jade is compatible with many other popular wallets, including BlueWallet, Sparrow, Electrum, Specter and Nunchuk.
